CARLISLE, Pa. — June 10, 2026 — The Pennsylvania Beef Council recently hosted the first Girls Who Grill event in Pennsylvania, bringing together 19 women at the historic Mayfield Farm in Carlisle for an evening focused on beef education, grilling confidence, hands-on cooking and connection.
Held as the summer grilling season gets underway, the event was designed to help women sharpen their knowledge of beef cuts, learn practical grilling techniques, and explore approachable ways to prepare beef for everyday meals, backyard gatherings, and seasonal entertaining.
“Girls Who Grill is about giving women the tools, knowledge and confidence to make beef approachable and enjoyable at home,” said Beth Stark, RDN, LDN, Director of Channel Marketing and Nutrition Outreach for the Pennsylvania Beef Council. “From understanding different cuts to learning proper cooking techniques and flavor pairings, this event helped participants feel more prepared to bring nutritious, delicious beef meals to the table.”
The Pennsylvania event was part of the national Girls Who Grill initiative supported by the Beef. It’s What’s For Dinner brand and state beef councils across the country. In 2026, state beef councils are joining the effort in 26 states, helping women learn more about beef preparation, grilling methods and outdoor cooking in a fun and approachable environment.
During the Carlisle event, guests participated in live, interactive demonstrations, learned practical grilling and beef-preparation tips, and connected with other women interested in food, agriculture, and summer cooking. Featured presenter Sierra Anthony of Butcher Solutions, LLC led a butchery demonstration featuring strip loin and sirloin, while sharing techniques for preparing roasts, steaks and handmade burgers.
Following the demonstration, attendees broke into small groups to prepare beef dishes together, applying what they learned before gathering for a shared meal featuring beef-forward recipes.
Set against the backdrop of Mayfield Farm, an Angus beef operation owned by Duff George and family, the event offered a unique opportunity to connect beef education with a historic farm setting and the people behind the product.
"Girls Who Grill is about giving women the tools, knowledge and confidence to make beef approachable and enjoyable at home,” said Beth Stark, RDN, LDN, Director of Channel Marketing and Nutrition Outreach for the Pennsylvania Beef Council.
“Hosting Pennsylvania’s first Girls Who Grill event at Mayfield Farm created a meaningful connection between consumers, beef education and agriculture,” said Nichole Hockenberry, Executive Director of the Pennsylvania Beef Council. “This event reflects our commitment to creating engaging experiences that build consumer confidence, showcase the versatility of beef and strengthen appreciation for the farmers and ranchers who raise it.”
The event also showcased the Pennsylvania Beef Council’s ongoing commitment to consumer education, helping participants better understand beef cuts, cooking methods, flavor pairings and the role beef can play in balanced meals.
