Beef Fuels Stock Car Driver Garrett Smithley
Bedford, PA – The PA Beef Council (PBC) is joining forces with Stock Car Driver and Ligonier, PA native Garrett Smithley to promote beef and encourage fans to include it on the menu for summer cook-outs and tailgates. Smithley, a NASCAR cup series driver will engage fans via his social media platforms through the summer months. As a fan of beef and summer tailgates, he will share some fan-favorite beef recipes, grilling tips and facts about Pennsylvania’s Beef Industry.
“We are looking forward to engaging with NASCAR fans from all-across the country to promote beef as a great food for grilling, tailgating and everyday! We hope that Garrett’s fan base will benefit from learning more about the great taste and nutrition beef can provide, as well as being a great choice for race-day tailgates!” said Courtney Gray, Director of Marketing and Industry Relations for the PBC.
What drives Smithley to include beef in his diet? “I’m an avid eater. Like I eat every day, and beef is a huge part of my diet! I’m super excited to partner with PA beef, not only to fuel me with great taste and quality protein but being a PA native, it was just a perfect fit!”

The Pennsylvania Beef Council is a producer-controlled and funded organization, which administers the Beef Checkoff Program in Pennsylvania. The Beef Checkoff Program assesses $1 per head on the sale of live domestic and imported cattle, in addition to a comparable assessment on imported beef and beef products. Checkoff revenues may be used for promotion, education and research programs to improve the marketing climate for beef.
