John Ligo

John Ligo & Judy Harding married in 1987 and bought their homestead farm in 1988. They built a new dairy and began milking Holsteins in 1990. They care for 240 dairy cows plus replacement heifers.

In 1995, they bought seven beef cattle for grazing on their farm.  This year, they will calve 135 Angus and Angus cross cows. In addition, Judy owns a herd of registered Scottish Highland cattle that includes some national champions she developed. The couple has sold seed stock cattle to 15 different states. The operation is now 1000 plus acres owned and 300 rented. The entire cattle head count is sometimes over 800.

Community service has always been important to the Ligos.  John and Judy have served many years and driven many miles as members of numerous national, state and local organizations advocating for agriculture. John and Judy are particularly proud to have been named a 1998 Master Farmer and the 2010 Pennsylvania Dairy Beef Quality Assurance Award Winner.
